1. Structure Design. As you know, there are many types of structures for gift box, like two-piece style, one-piece style, with lip or without lip and so on. The designer should consider many factors before making a final decision, these factos include the content to be put into, the stype favourable to receiver, the costs, the technique and so on. Of course, it is impossible to decide everything in one time without any practices. But any way, considering everything as possible as could, will save much time and energy.

2. Dummy Test. If the box is not regular or with very complicated structure, it is necessary to make a dummy, and test if it is workable for practical producing. Some designs look fantastic and amazing when they appear on drawing, but actually they may be not available for mass production because of low production efficiency. When this problem happens, the designer should consolidate all resources of PE, production and relative team to find best solution. So sometimes maybe it is very important for everybody to compromise before they could make certain agreements.

3. Template Created. When the dummy is approved, the template artworks should be created based on it. The designer needs to get the template, and find out how to make the colors, the image and the logo if it has. If there is no templates, the designer might not find the size or get how to illustrate for each parts of the box.
